To obtain healthy white teeth, you HAVE to practice the best oral hygiene you can.
And that doesn’t mean you have to go to the dentist every morning. You can do it at home.
1. How’s your toothbrush?
Many people go for a hard toothbrush, thinking that the hardened bristles will do more for their smile than a soft brush will do. Well…you are wrong. It might do more harm than good. There is something called enamel which surrounds your teeth. Not only will a hard bristled toothbrush hard your enamel, but it can also damage your gums.
Tips: Go for a toothbrush with nylon bristles. Also…don’t use tooth whitening toothpaste with electric toothbrushes. Your enamel won’t be able to handle the abrasiveness.
2. Brush more
This is more than obvious! Chances are good you are going to skip this step, but you shouldn’t. You should brush your teeth at least twice a day. This will ensure you get of the bacteria in your mouth. Make sure that when you brush you brush your teeth but at the same time also cover the edges of your gums.
Tips: Try to use gentle short strokes to brush your teeth. Brush the outside of your upper and lower teeth and move from one side of your mouth to the other. Do the same for the inside of your teeth and repeat at your moler areas.
3. Floss Floss Floss!
The areas between your teeth are probably the only place where your toothbrush has trouble reaching. Flossing provides you with one of the quickest ways to get rid of plaque and food build up that get stuck between your teeth.
Tips: Everybody knows how to floss, but it’s important that when the floss reaches your gumline, curve it into a C-shape against one tooth and gently slide it into the space between the gum and the tooth until you feel pressure against the tooth. Then gently scrape the side of the tooth. Make sure to grab a new floss after every second tooth.
4. Eat the right food
Sugars ladies…that’s the stuff that cause cavity problems.
The weirdest thing is that even healthy fruits and juices can cause damage to your teeth.
You have to watch out for those highly concentrated fruit juices. The reason I say to watch out is because these fruit juices have a very high acid level and eats away at your enamel.
Also…if you feel like eating sweets like chocolates and candies, make sure you rinse or brush your teeth afterwards.
5. Bleach your yellow pearlies.
Most of you have stained teeth. Most women tend to have stained teeth since we love tea, coffee, red wine and cigarettes. Teeth bleaching is a popular solution.
