Alpha Hydroxy Acid :
The universal ingredient that all wrinkle creams should have.

First of all...
what is this “Alpha Hydroxy Acid”?

Alpha hydroxy acid is an acid that’s derived from various fruits. The chemical acids in fruits are known for it’s positive effect on the skin. For centuries alpha hydroxy acids has been used to help reduce wrinkles and exfoliate the skin. Higher concentrations of alpha hydroxy acid is used in chemical peels.

If you are going to buy Alpha hydroxy acid products over the counter, it must have a concentration of 10% or less. Dermatologists and cosmetologists can get their hands on products with a 20% to 30% concentration. Doctors have access to more potent alpha hydroxy acids with some concentrations of 50% to 70%!

So what does Alpha Hydroxy Acid do?

As I said in the previous explanation, Alpha hydroxy acid works as an exfoliant on the skin. It's an acid, which means it can degrade (eat) organic compounds, such as the skin. Alpha hydroxy acid literally eats away at the top layer of the skin, removing dead skin cells and whala...you have new living cells emerging.

Higher concentratins of alpha hydroxy acid, are capable of removing thicker layers of the skin, like scars and fine lines. Unfortunately, higher concentrations of alpha hydroxy acids has the possibility to result in greater skin irritation. A 60% concentration (like a 60% chemical peel) can cause some serious skin side effects, including severe redness and flaking.

Does alpha hydroxy acid work?

Yes! Remember, almost all wrinkle creams have a low concentration to avoid skin irritations.
